Silkscreen
Screenprinting is the process by which you force ink through a screen onto clothing. There are wide ranges of products that can be screened. Let us discuss screening for garments and promotional products. The screen is a fine mesh of synthetic material. It is coated with a light sensitive liquid called "emulsion" and allowed to dry. The design is printed in a "positive" which is a black image on a transparent background. The positive is placed on the mesh of the screen, which is covered with the light sensitive emulsion, and then it is exposed to light. Where the transparent paper is the light passes through and the emulsion cures and hardens, where the black area is the emulsion remains water soluble and washes off the screen, leaving open mesh where the emulsion washes out. This process is repeated for each screen color. The screens are set up and aligned on a rotating press thus we can print the image on the fabric in the correct color sequence.
